BOHS-certified asbestos training courses
| P401 - Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples This module provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the techniques of asbestos sample identification using polarised light microscopy (PLM).
The module is at a proficiency level which must aim to provide the student with the practical knowledge and skills to be able to carry out the stated work. To pass the practical assessment for this module the candidate will normally need to have some practical experience with polarised light microscopy and or asbestos identification.

| BOHS Module P901 - Legionella, Management and Control of Building Hot and Cold Water Services
The module provides a background and overview of the risk of legionella infetion and how it can be controlled in domestic type hot and cold water systems. This course is a pre-requirement before undertaking the P902 course - management and control of evaporative cooling systems and other high risk systems.
On successful completion, the student shall be able to demonstrate management and control in;
- Knowledge of the origins of legionella and the multiplication factors which allow it to proliferate in man-made water systems
- Identification of the main conditions that need to coincide for legionella infection to take place and how they can be used to control risk

| Asbestos Awareness Course This training is for those people whose work may cause them to disturb asbestos (non-licensed) on an irregular basis. The main aim is to demonstrate to delegates how to avoid exposure to asbestos. It complies with the guidance in ACoP L143.
The new Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 was implemented by the HSE on the 13th of November 2006. These regulations do repeal the current Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002, as well as the Asbestos Licensing Regulations and Asbestos Prohibition Regulations, creating a single set of regulations, (e.g. Specific mandatory training for all trades liable to be exposed to asbestos.)
